Arriving by Plane
Switzerland had 3 airports :
- Geneva (the closest)
- Zurich
- Basel
Both Geneva and Zurich airports have a train station directly within the airport complex. Basel Airport does not have its own train station – would would need to take a bus to the railway station (SBB).
From the airports you can proceed to Lausanne by train (CFF-SBB) – highly recommended as this is faster than by car.
Arriving by Train
The destination train station is Lausanne or Morges stations. Train timetables and other details can be found on the Swiss Railway website (CFF-SBB)
From the station in Lausanne you can take the Métro M1 and M2 (M2 => direction Croisettes until Flon, then change to M1 direction Rennes until the EPFL stop. This journey will take around 20 minutes from Lausanne station.
From the airports you an proceed to Lausanne by train (CFF-SBB) – highly recommended as this is faster than by car.
Arriving by Car
- From Geneva-Cointrin Airport, take highway A1 to Lausanne, follow signs to Lausanne Sud/ Ouchy and exit at St Sulpice/EPFL.
- From Zurich-Kloten Airport, take highway A1 to Bern / Yverdon-les-Bains, then take A9 highway direction Grand St Bernard, then take A1 to Lausanne Sud/ Ouchy and exit at St Sulpice/EPFL.
- From Basel-Mulhouse Airport, take hight A3 to Basel. Then take A2-A1 to Bern and Yverdon-les-Bains, then take A9 highway direction Grand St Bernard, then take A1 to Lausanne Sud/ Ouchy and exit at St Sulpice/EPFL.
- The final direction for journeys from all directions are : from the exit Lausanne-St Sulpice, follow the cantonal road B1 to EPFl. Parking at EPFL is limited and expensive and can be found beneath the SwissTech Convention Centre. Ideally we recommend the use of public transport within Lausanne.
